”…The oak trees around the bench form a natural auditorium. The tree trunks are like the pillars of a temple and the canopy formed by the branches above helps to create just the right acoustics. The start time for the concert is also very special – two hours before the sun is starting to set on the other side of the lake and the lighting and colours are beautiful, forming a fabulous backdrop for the musicians…’ Ilona Domnich 2024
During the Pandemic, I acutely realised the power of the unpredictable tomorrow and the importance of acting in the now. Which is why I have decided to act upon an idea that had been brewing in my mind and without delay start a music festival next to a beautiful lake in Barnet/Cockfosters. This combination of nature, music and community coming together is unique and has an X factor.
I feel very proud, 2024 is our fourth year running since the first concert and I am excited for our new collaboration with St. Paul’s, Hadley Wood Church and beyond, which I will reveal shortly.
This project would not be possible without Monken Hadley Commons Trust, HAPS Hadley Angling and Preservation Society and World Heart Beat Music Academy and many generous individuals. My wholehearted thanks to all.
I wish for this sapling to grow deep roots in the years to come.
